Numerous clinical treatments have been tried all over the world for the control of Hyperhidrosis, but they are all palliatives, of temporary effect or little success
The surgical procedure is considered definitive as of recently.
The non-surgical options for treating Hyperhidrosis are limited and include: dermatological treatments, the application of astringent solutions or creams, electric baths with salt water in the affected area, all which can reduce sweating in specific areas, but only for a period of 6 hours to a week; injection of botulinum toxin (Botox) under the skin can last 4 to 6 months, but about 50 injections are needed in each hand and, furthermore, the product is very expensive.
Psychological treatment, the use of sedatives or drugs that reduce the sweat can reduce facial redness and improve social adaptability, but they do very little for hyperhidrosis. The increased fact of the side effects experienced by the continued use of these drugs, make them less useful for the treatment of Hyperhidrosis. |
